Northern Pacific Stock Car Series 83750-83999: In 1913, the Northern Pacific Railway received 250 stock cars from the Whipple Car Company. In 1953, 238 of these cars were still in service with two remaining in 1963. The cars had an exterior length of 42-ft 8-inches and were 12-ft 7-inches high to the top of the running boards. This unique stock car had a deep fish-belly center sill, with a single truss-rod on each side. The cars had the signature radial roof that was typical of steam era freight cars on the Northern Pacific and were constructed almost entirely of wood. The cars had a small lumber door on the "B" end next to the break staff. The cars were delivered with the "KC" type brake system, which was outlawed for cars in interchange service by the early fifties, and were fitted with the "AB" type by this date. This HO scale resin model can be built to represent the cars as delivered, or as they appeared later in their careers and makes a nice compliment to the Central Valley and P2K Mather stock cars that are available for your yearly livestock shipments. The kit includes accurate decals, instructions with pictures of the prototype and a list of commercial parts (trucks, couplers, wire) needed to complete the model.
