HO-Scale - Motor Car Setoff Kit 3-Pack: Motor car set-offs were used by track workers, section gangs, signal men and roadmasters as a place to clear the line for passing trains. They were also used as a convenient location to turn handcars and motorcars. Some railroads specified setoffs to be placed every mile or so and often at signal and siding locations.
