NP Series 5000-5999, Single Sheath Box Cars: In 1926, the Northern Pacific Railway received two orders of 500 cars each from Pressed Steel car Company and Standard Steel Car Company, numbers 5000-5499 and 5500-5999 respectively. The cars were fifty feet in length and used single sheathed composite-wood construction. The ends were Murphy corrugated pressed steel with three sections of five corrugations in each. The roof was the trademark NP radial design. The underframes employed double fishbelly center sills. The cars had main and auxiliary wood doors with a door opening of ten feet, six inches. Both groups rode on Dalman two-level trucks. These HO-Scale resin kits faithfully capture all of the details of the prototype and include all castings, details parts, trucks and authentic decals to letter the cars in the delivery scheme with the Yellowstone Park Line monad through the simplified schemes of the 1940s and 1950s. The kits have formed grab irons and wire to assemble the A-B brake rigging.
